Half
minute timer for soldering fume extractor pumps
by sv3ora
This circuit uses a leaf spring
switch which is toggled by the weight
of the soldering iron, when it is left onto the iron stand. It allows
for a half minute delay when you put down the soldering iron. This
delay keeps the solder tip fumes extractor pump ON for that time and
then it stops the pump. As long as you lift the iron from the stand,
the timer is reset and the pump starts again. Half a minute is enough
for the remaining flux onto the tip to be completely burnt out and its
fumes to be sucked into the tip fume extractor system. For larger
delays use a larger electrolytic. The circuit can work for 230v too
without any modifications, since the SMPSU module I used can operate at
this voltage too. It is also dead simple and it works like a charm.
There is no need for MCUs or other complex stuff when the job is done
just right by simple means.
